Ithaca Grand Prix - Pre Registration closes at midnight

The Ithaca Grand Prix of Cyclocross presented by ZEVLIN officially kicks off the Michigan Cyclocross season on Saturday, September 7!

Back in its fifth year, the Ithaca GP became world famous when the famed Ithaca umbrella made it into Sven’s finishing shot at the world championships this past February!
This year the Ithaca GP is kicking off the Tailwind Series of races; the results from the race will be included as Race #1 in their series tabulation.
Back again will be a hard course, an amphitheater of music, support from USAC Team Sandbag, and some great swag giveaways from our sponsors!  New for this year are slightly revised categories (including CAT 5 for beginning men!), race timing provided by Tailwind, and a food trailer serving hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, and HOT MINI DOUGHNUTS!

Pre-registration (available HERE) is only $25 ($5 for juniors) and closes on Sunday, September 1 at midnight EST.  Day-of registration is available and opens at 8:00 a.m.  This year staging order in your start waive is determined by your registration order, so don’t delay!

Racing starts at 10:00 a.m. with the Cat 4 Men.  Check out the full schedule online HERE.  Bring your family and friends to watch – the park is very spectator friendly and the city’s downtown businesses are open after the race!

WMSR Cancelled

WMSR Racers,
Due to the significant decrease in the number of registered racers for the 2013 West Michigan Stage Race, I regret to inform you that we will be cancelling the event for 2013. I did not come to this decision lightly and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused those who have consistently supported this event. However, with only 124 racers registered to date and a breakeven point of 290 racers we cannot count on our participant numbers to more than doubling in the next 15 days. All refunds including service fees will be processed in the next 2 weeks and will be mailed to the participant address on file with USAC. Again, it is with a heavy heart that I have come to this decision, and I want to sincerely thank those of you who have supported this race from its beginning.

Sincerely,
Brian Bangma
Race Director-WMSR

Officials Clinic Cancelled

Due to the low number of registration, we have decided to cancel the level C officials clinic this weekend, and reschedule it for a later date. Please contact John Sammut if interested in attending any future clinics ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )

Does this race count for my upgrade? (New Racer Edition)

Everything in life counts! So why shouldn’t you get credit for the race you just did? Well, you probably did even if you didn’t realize it.

New road racers start out as a category 5 for men, or as a category 4 for women. In order to move up a rider needs to gain experience racing with a group and demonstrate their ability to perform the basics of racing safely with a group. At the most basic level, the cat. 5 to cat. 4 upgrade for men depends on the number of mass-start races finished. The rulebook states it simply as 10 mass-start race finishes with no preference given for 1st place or last. But if you’re looking to move up quickly, don’t miss the point of the beginner category: learning to race in a group!
